I have met a few drummers in my life
maybe that is why your name can get stuck in my head. I do not know what has
happened but my love for drums has been on the high increase and that was when you came my way. Probably
because my best friend is a drummer (do you know her?), that is where the love
comes out from oh!
Back to the reason for the
writing, It is with deep appreciation of talent and encouragement that I write
this piece. Ijeoma Daniel Chibuikem is his name and PASSIONS as his stage name...little or nothing is none
about his family background, but I sure know, we share a father who is heaven.
My love for the rhythmic sounds of the drums(especially when it is amplified)
when I am worshipping, praising, singing and even when listening to music,
attracted me to the talent of this young man.
I started feeling him pretty late, because he joined the house (CU-NIFES)
when he was in Final year...but the little I enjoyed from him, made me praise
God for his life. He is wonderfully built, handsome in appearance, and talented
in the hands, wise in talks, friendly in relations, he was also good in the game
of football. Someone you can rely on, probably he transferred all these
wonderful qualities to his drums.
His discipline in reactions to the mood of worship is unparallel; he
stops when you want him to stop, he increases the pace when you want him
to....slows down at the slightest beckoning of your hands, and flows with your
spirit as if, he is in there with you (probably we can use him as an example of
the unity of the spirit). In services we are used to something like this
“Divine: Break it down, break it down........
Drummer: (The drum stops immediately)
Divine: (Continues song and the drummer follows with spectacular accuracy”
You want to hear the beauty of the percussion in set, arranged in the
form that is consistent with the flow of the spirit of God, beauty in appearance
and a rare gem...wait and listen to PASSION. I cannot say maybe there are no better
persons, but I praise God that I have seen in my life time, one of the best
drummers in existence.
I am so happy that we have people that have understood the excellence of
their talents under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is my prayer that he
continues to grow from strength to strength in all ramifications and his
excellence on percussion be amplified.
However, let me use this opportunity to make a shout out to all
instrumentalist in the world...God bless you all and the efforts(mental and
physical) to bring beauty to worship
experience will not be in vain in Jesus name. In the right mind, praise might
be complete without you guys, but in some others; when you perform below par,
hearts are disconnected (this is not encouraged at any time). Continue to grow
from strength to strength , with an understanding that there is nothing in Christianity
that can be done outside the holy spirit. I think, another blog post on the “INSTRUMENTALIST”
will be wonderful..watch out
